At Debary Sonshine Academy, we have an educated, well-trained and loving staff. We have years of experience in teaching and nurturing children. Located in Debary, FL, we are proud to serve the children and families of West Volusia. Our preschool is privately owned and operated, and we also offer summer programs. We are a Christian, faith-based child care and education center striving to help your children grow and develop in all facets of their lives.

Our History
Debary Sonshine Academy was founded in 1999 by Ken and Mary Dietzel. They were inspired by their vision to provide a personal educational environment for children and families. This vision stemmed from when they had their first child and were unable to find a school that offered their needs and wants as parents.
We are the Volusia Partner of the Year for Volusia County Schools in recognition of our Commitment to Education. The Florida League of Christian Schools (FLOCS) voted us a “School of Excellence,” and the school inspector recognized our playground as one of the cleanest and largest playgrounds in the area.
Our Partnerships
At Debary Sonshine Academy, we believe in the power of community collaboration to enrich early childhood education. We work closely with Debary Elementary, fostering a seamless transition for our preschoolers as they prepare for kindergarten.
Our founder, Mr. Ken, is deeply involved in the community, serving on both local and county school boards, ensuring that our programs align with the highest educational standards and support the needs of young learners.
